Another good weekend in the 'Triangle' finishing off with a journey back to the west end in the snow on Sunday.

We head to the Park Hotel in Dunoon for an Xmas Dance on Saturday 10th December.

On Friday 16th December we are back up in Oban at the Skipinnish Ceilidh House.

Sunday 18th sees us back in the Park Bar.

Looking forward to some time off over Christmas before a wee afternoon slot on the 29th of December for a family ceilidh in Kelvingrove Art Gallery.

We head to Skipness Village Hall Friday 30th and finish of the year at 'home base' in the Park Bar for our Hogmanay Extravaganza!!

Thank you for your support in 2911

Have a great Xmas and all the best for 2012

WELCOME...

A very warm welcome to the website of the Gunna Sound Ceilidh Band.

It has taken a while for us to embrace the wonders of modern day technology, but at last we have managed to create a wee croft for ourselves in cyberspace!

We intend to add some more content to our 'cybercroft' over the next few weeks and months so please check back from time to time.

It has been an exciting time for the band in the early part of 2009, recording our first CD, ‘Rollin’ on the Sea’.  This involved many trips up and down the A82 at all hours of the day and night to Nutshell Music’s recording studio in Oban.  Finlay Wells and the team have a fantastic business in a cosy upstairs flat at Lochavullin. Without Finlay’s patience and professionalism it is unlikely that this project would have come to fruition.

‘Rollin’ on the Sea’ represents what Gunna Sound have been doing over the years - a mixture of tunes and songs which we enjoy playing and a blend of music which we hope our friends and audiences are familiar with.

The Gunna Sound Ceilidh Band lead by Campbell Brown from the Isle of Tiree and Johnny Scoular from Lochaline in Morvern, are one of the very best Ceilidh Bands in Scotland – nobody would argue with that.  But at what they do - their particular niche – they are probably the best.  They provide their listeners with a combination of music, song and good craic that satisfies all the requirements of a proper West Coast horo gheallaidh!  pipe music, Country and Western, Gaelic waltzes, Scottish dance band, Gaelic songs, wild ceilidh , Scottish and Irish songs are areas they cover and excel in – and nobody does this combination better.

On a personal note, Campbell Brown is one of my longest standing musical heroes.  His influence and encouragement has been instrumental to my musical path and that of most other Tiree musicians.  Skipinnish, Skerryvore, Trail West, and any future products of Gordon Connel’s teaching legacy have much to thank The Gunna Sound Ceilidh Band for. They did it first and paved the way for the rest of us.

This CD is long overdue and is a fantastic reflection on what this tremendous band can do.  It shows clearly why they are so popular and I personally guarantee that you will wear it out from over use!
